DOG101: Introduction to Manners

It’s not just any class—it’s tailored for pet parents with dogs aged 6 months or older. Dive into foundation leash walking skills, learn the power of marker signals, build strong cues, cultivate relaxation around other dogs, master recall and leave it commands, explore the basics of canine communication, and so much more as you embark on this training adventure with your dog!

DOG201: Intermediate Manners

Keep the momentum going as we dive deeper into the world of doggie skills! In DOG201 take your basic skills to the next level and master some new ones. Teach your dog how to leave it, nose target, maintain focus around distractions, build reliable cues, stay, greet people politely (all four on the floor please), and more.

DOG301: Advanced Manners

Get ready to become a Certified Family Dog! Dogs and pet guardians who complete the skills in this course together earn the ultimate title of Certified Family Dog. We turn up the fun as we fine-tune your dog’s skills to superstar status. Master reliable cues, level up leash walking around distractions, learn about shaping and trick training, master polite greetings, recall, and learn real-life skills to make life with your dog a joy every day..

Training Spot Puppy School Classes

PUPPY 1: Preschool

Puppies 8 to 13 Weeks

Calling all proud puppy parents! According to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), the best time to start puppy classes is between 7-8 weeks of age. Join us for four weeks of fun-filled learning, where our certified trainers will guide you through crucial early development stages. Your pup will enjoy playtime with new friends, learn to relax around others, practice attention skills, start leash walking, and more!

  • Puppies need to have had at least one distemper/parvo vaccination and all age appropriate boosters

PUPPY 2: Elementary School

Puppies 14 Weeks to 6 Months

Welcome to our special puppy foundation class! Here, you will lay the groundwork for your puppy’s successful development and training. Over this 6 week course, we’ll dive into essential skills such as walking calmly on a leash, polite greetings, leave it, wait, recall, and teaching calm interactions with other dogs. Get ready for a fun-filled and enriching experience as you and your puppy build a strong foundation together!

PUPPY 3: Middle School

PUPPY 2 Graduates Only

Not a puppy but not yet an adult dog…this course is designed specifically with your teenage dogs in mind and continues to build on the behaviors you learned in PUPPY 2. Leash walking with distractions, recall, paying attention around distractions, relaxing on a bed, and polite greetings are just some of the behaviors we fine-tune as your pup turns into an adult dog.

Advanced Dog Classes

DOG401 – Training Games

This class will use fun games to strengthen leash walking, stay, recall around distractions, polite greetings, leave it (there may be hamburgers involved), and more. Have fun with your dog and listen to music, while developing reliable, strong behaviors in real world situations. Skills learned in this class are fundamental building blocks for those interested in pursuing additional paths such as testing for Canine Good Citizen, preparing for Therapy work with their dogs, and is a recommended pre-requisit for our DOG401 Advanced Manners.

Dogs age 1 year and older

  • Pre-Requisite: DOG301
    * Dog should be able to work around other dogs without the use of visual barriers
    * Dog should be able to walk on a loose leash for 10-20 steps
    * Dog should know sit and down and be able to hold for 5 seconds or more
  • 5 sessions, 50 minutes per session
  • Cost: $215

DOG401 – Therapy Prep

This 5 week advanced level course focuses on building reliable leash walking, polite greetings, relaxation (while the pet parent is working with or talking to another person), recall, and general good public behavior using training games and Canine Good Citizen preparatory exercises.

Dogs age 1 year and older

  • Pre-Requisite: DOG301
    * Dog should be able to work around other dogs without the use of visual barriers
    * Dog should be able to walk nicely on leash (not perfect, but have good skills in place)
    * Dog has reliable Sit, Down and/or Stand behaviors
    * Dog can tether while their guardian steps away
  • 5 sessions, 50 minutes per session
  • Cost: $215
