Could insurance help
with behavior care?

Look for a policy that covers behavior consultations and follow-up sessions with an IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC). Confirm coverage for your Training Spot consultant before booking.

Yes—some plans help pay for behavior care.

Insurance may help with eligible treatment for anxiety, aggression, and other behavioral conditions. Ask whether your policy covers an IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC), rather than assuming all behavior professionals qualify. Confirm any veterinary referral or prior-approval requirements and coverage for both the initial consultation and follow-up sessions.

Everyday manners and puppy classes are generally outside behavioral insurance coverage. This page focuses on care for behavioral conditions.

Know which credential your policy requires.

Our team includes IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultants (CDBC). Ask about the credential of the individual consultant you’ll see.

CDBC — Certified Dog Behavior Consultant
A credential awarded by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). This is the credential to ask about when checking coverage for our CDBC consultations.
CAAB — Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist
A different credential awarded through the Animal Behavior Society.
ACAAB — Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist
Another Animal Behavior Society credential. Training Spot staff do not hold CAAB or ACAAB certifications; these are not interchangeable with CDBC.

One question to ask your insurer.

Send this before you schedule:

“Does my policy cover behavior consultations and follow-up sessions with an IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC)? Do I need a veterinary referral or prior approval, and what documents should I submit?”

Also confirm pre-existing condition rules, waiting periods, deductibles, and benefit limits. Your insurer determines reimbursement.
